Welcome to Adventures in Zero Gravity, a blog that's going to chart the trials and tribulations of two enthusiastic sci-fi nerds as they enter the world of canals and narrowboats. I'm Saxon, my girlfriend is Emma, and together we've decided that within the next year, we're going to be moving onto a narrowboat which we'll be fitting out ourselves, before embarking on a long series of adventures and explorations across the British waterways.
We've both got little-to-no previous experience, but we're not going to let that stop us. If all goes according to plan, we'll be getting the "sailaway" shell of the boat in the middle of September, and we're going to try and use this blog to chart all the ins and outs of the build, as well as the sheer oddness of downsizing our lives so that they'll fit in a 60ft Narrowboat.
We've already decided on a name for the boat – Zero Gravity – and we'll soon be explaining more details of how we've ended up embarking on this strange and wonderful adventure.
We hope you'll come along for the ride!
